CVE-2022-48927
Description
A vulnerability was found in the Linux kernel's ti-tsc2046.c driver where a potential array overflow is possible due to a mismatch between the array allocation size in the functions tsc2046_adc_update_scan_mode() and tsc2046_adc_setup_spi_msg(). This is caused by the indio_dev->num_channels value, which includes both physical channels and the timestamp channel, while the array allocation size in the aforementioned functions was made only for the physical channels. This vulnerability can lead to memory corruption.
Statement
Red Hat Enterprise Linux is not impacted by this CVE, as the vulnerability in question does not affect the specific versions or configurations of the Linux kernel used in its distributions. This ensures that users of Red Hat Enterprise Linux are not exposed to the potential risks associated with this issue, and no further action or mitigation is necessary for systems running this operating system.
Mitigation
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base or stability.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Integrity,Confidentiality,Availability
Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands
Buffer overflows often can be used to execute arbitrary code, which is usually outside the scope of the product's implicit security policy. This can often be used to subvert any other security service.
Availability
Technical Impact: Modify Memory; DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart; DoS: Resource Consumption (CPU)
Buffer overflows generally lead to crashes. Other attacks leading to lack of availability are possible, including putting the product into an infinite loop.
