CVE-2021-47449

Description

A vulnerability was found in the Linux kernel vulnerability that affects the ice driver, specifically related to the locking mechanism for the Transmission (Tx) timestamp tracking flush. The issue arose after the addition of a lock around the Tx timestamp tracker flow, which handles cleanup of leftover SKBs during device removal. However, this lock was problematic because it was held while calling a function (ice_clear_phy_tstamp) that also uses a mutex. If the mutex sleeps, it can lead to a deadlock, causing a warning in the kernel when preemption debugging is enabled. The deadlock occurs due to the conflicting use of locks, which can block kernel operations like module removal.
