CVE-2020-16116
Description
From CVE.org
In kerfuffle/jobs.cpp in KDE Ark before 20.08.0, a crafted archive can install files outside the extraction directory via ../ directory traversal.
Statement
ark as shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 prompts the user before allowing extraction into home directory, and also displays an error. Because the user must agree to perform the extraction in the home directory, Red Hat Product Security does not view this as a security vulnerability in ark as shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.

NVD: CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N
Red Hat CVSS v3 Score Explanation
S:U because this attack still only works on the user's home directory, which is not a scope change. C:N as no confidentiality of data is directly affected by the flaw, I:L as there is a risk to integrity of data but it is low since ark asks before overwriting a file when it's triggered, and A:N was marked due to the ark application itself not having a compromise to availability due to this flaw.
