Description

jp2/opj_decompress.c in OpenJPEG through 2.3.1 has a use-after-free that can be triggered if there is a mix of valid and invalid files in a directory operated on by the decompressor. Triggering a double-free may also be possible. This is related to calling opj_image_destroy twice.

AC:H because the attacker does not have control over the order in which the files are read and exploitation requires a specific file order, also, attacker does not have control of whether the files are processed as a directory or individually and would need to be processed as a directory. UI:N because this would not require victim interaction, C:L because there is a low risk to confidentiality only if an attacker is able to leverage the use-after-free condition which has not been demonstrated. I:N because this does not appear to affect data integrity but is likely to crash the application.
