CVE-2019-15606

Description

A flaw was found in Node.js where the HTTP(s) header values were not stripped of trailing whitespace. An attacker can use this flaw to send an HTTP(s) request which is validated by an upstream proxy server, but not by the Node.js HTTP(s) server.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

Red Hat CVSS v3 Score Explanation

A successful attack would require an attacker to invest time in investigating how a proxy is handling request to see if they are different from the NodeJS HTTP(s) server. Also the impact of the vulnerability is dependent on how what the backend server is hosting. In most cases the backend server should have authentication enabled, limiting the exposure of the data there.
