Out-of-bounds memory read in the x509_decode_time function in x509_cert_parser.c in Linux kernels 4.3-rc1 and after.

Statement

This issue does not affect the Linux kernel packages as shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, 6, 7 and MRG-2, as the code introduced the flaw is not present in these products.

An attacker could cause a segmentation fault or crash by causing memory to be read outside of the bounds of the buffer. This is especially likely when the code reads a variable amount of data and assumes that a sentinel exists to stop the read operation, such as a NUL in a string.
