CVE-2011-2213

Description

From CVE.org

The inet_diag_bc_audit function in net/ipv4/inet_diag.c in the Linux kernel before 2.6.39.3 does not properly audit INET_DIAG bytecode, which allows local users to cause a denial of service (kernel infinite loop) via crafted INET_DIAG_REQ_BYTECODE instructions in a netlink message, as demonstrated by an INET_DIAG_BC_JMP instruction with a zero yes value, a different vulnerability than CVE-2010-3880.

Statement

This issue affects the Linux kernel as shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, 5, 6, and Red Hat Enterprise MRG. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 is now in Production 3 of the maintenance life-cycle, https://access.redhat.com/support/policy/updates/errata/, therefore the fix for this issue is not currently planned to be included in the future updates. This has been addressed in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, 6, and Red Hat Enterprise MRG via https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2011-0927.html, https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2011-1189.html and https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2011-1253.html.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
