CVE-2011-1154
Description
From CVE.org
The shred_file function in logrotate.c in logrotate 3.7.9 and earlier might allow context-dependent attackers to execute arbitrary commands via shell metacharacters in a log filename, as demonstrated by a filename that is automatically constructed on the basis of a hostname or virtual machine name.
Statement
Not vulnerable. This issue did not affect the versions of logrotate as shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 and 5, as they did not support 'shred' logrotate configuration directive yet.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
