CVE-2009-4026
Description
From CVE.org
The mac80211 subsystem in the Linux kernel before 2.6.32-rc8-next-20091201 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (panic) via a crafted Delete Block ACK (aka DELBA) packet, related to an erroneous "code shuffling patch."
Statement
Not vulnerable. This issue did not affect the versions of the Linux kernel as shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3, 4, 5 and Red Hat Enterprise MRG. Shipped kernels do not include upstream commits d75636ef and d92684e6 that introduced the problem.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart
An attacker that can trigger an assert statement can still lead to a denial of service if the relevant code can be triggered by an attacker, and if the scope of the assert() extends beyond the attacker's own session.
