Get Started
This guide outlines how to perform an express installation of Red Hat Directory Server for x86_64 architectures.
- Install a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 server with an active network connection.

Subscribe the system via Red Hat Subscription Manager and attach the subscription providing Red Hat Directory Server:
# subscription-manager register# subscription-manager list --available --allMake note of the pool id providing Red Hat Directory Server:
# subscription-manager attach --pool=POOL_ID -
Enable the directory server repository:
# subscription-manager repos --enable rhel-server-6-rhds-9-rpms -
Install the directory server packages:
# yum install redhat-ds -
Ensure that a real domain name is specified in the
/etc/resolv.conffile and that a hostname is set within the/etc/hostsfile. -
Run the directory server installation script, selecting the defaults or customizing as desired:
# /usr/sbin/setup-ds-admin.pl -
Once complete, the directory server is now installed and running. Determine the address and port of the admin server:
grep \^Listen /etc/dirsrv/admin-serv/console.confListen 0.0.0.0:9830 -
Connect to the administrative console:
