    Hi

I have a RHEL 6.5 system with a RAID device (mirrored on two hard disks) that contains a Volume group which has all the logical volumes in.

The /boot partition was on a hard disk that completely failed. I attempted to re-create the /boot partition on another drive but totally messed it up (long story) which left things quite broken and I wasn't even getting grub to display at boot.

I have, therefore, decided to re-install the OS on a new hard disk in the hope that I can simply point the bootloader (grub) to the original volume group to get it to boot once again with the original system.

Unfortunately it's not worked out quite as expected as when grub boots dracut fails with a "LVM vg_main/LVRoot" not found message. This is the logical volume I want it to boot using (i.e. the original one). I think I have the grub parameters correct as I have a copy of the old grub.conf but dracut is only scanning the new hard disk for volume groups, not the original disk(s).

How can I get dracut to scan the original disks for the volume group?

I am clearly missing a trick and any assistance would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Aidan
