VMs and System Creation Date

Has anyone tackled to problem of making the initial build date of VMs built from templates be representative of when the VM was instantiated rather than when the clone-source was installed? Was really hoping that there was a way to massage the basesystem RPM's installation date as part of the newly-instantiated VM's first-boot process.
