    Posted on

    Hi,

I have purchase Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server, Standard (1-2 sockets) (Unlimited Guest)

    I have an HP G8 with 2 sockets (16 cores 8*2)

So on Vmware if i modify vcpu from 2 to 4.

On redhat VM i have now 4 cpu and 4 cores (1core per vcpu define on vmware)

    grep processor /proc/cpuinfo | wc -l
    4

And i can't subscribe on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server, Standard (1-2 sockets) (Unlimited Guest) cause of 4 cpu !

The solution by redhat : stack subscribe !!

So on vmware i can add a parameter :  cpuid.coresPerSocket

So i can define 2 vcpu on vmware with 2 cores per vcpu = 4 cores but only 2 vcpu !

    is it legal ?

    Regards

    Julien
