Subgroups are great, but does it have to be an all or nothing membership situation?

The subgroups are a great add and definitely make the RHEV group more managable.  But why, no matter what I do, am I forced to either belong to all main/sub groups or none.  If I'm only interested in RHEV-M than I'm definitely getting more than I asked for or wanted, plus it really crufts up my "My Groups" list.  Is there a way to modify subgroups so that I can select which subgroups I'd like to subscribe to?
