Is it recommended that VMware tools kernel modules be updated with VMware provided libraries?

RHEL 6.x ships with built in kernel modules for the following:

vmxnet3

pvscsi

vmmemctl

We are looking to overwrite them using

   vmware-config-tools.pl --clobber-kernel-modules=...

to ensure that the VMware modules are in sync with the ESXi layer.

Is this what RHT is expecting?

Is this what the community commonly does?
