Is Wayland really the way?

I would also like this opportunity to express concerns about the possibility of moving from X to Wayland. Executing X applications over SSH (like for SAP installs etc) is a very handy tool and there does not seem to be a viable alternative thought out. The Wayland model seems nice enough for a desktop but for a primarily server OS I have my concerns about functionality.
