Best way to backup KVM guest

Hello.

What would be the bes way to backup an KVM Virtual Machine?

We currently create a lvm snapshot and copy all VM disk files to backup storage and gzip them.
It takes a lot of time and backups are consuming a lot of space.

Is there maybe a way to do incremental block level backups of VM disk files?
