Broadcom 5880 smart card readers - backport to 7.4?

Release notes to 7.5 note that BMC 5880 smart card readers with updated firmware are now supported. The Dell page about this issue from last year:

mentioned that the fix was intended to be backported to previous versions. Any indication of whether that still is going to happen?
