Satellite taking a painfully long time to apply Errata

    Posted on

    Hi Everyone,

First of all I am learning Satellite "trial by fire" and I am enjoying the process, it is a cool tool. I wanted to run something by the forum to see if this behavior is correct or not.

I am running a Satellite 6.2 host with 130 clients running RHEL 7.x. I have created host collections based on the environment (DEV, QA, PROD). When I select a host collection -> collection actions -> install errata, i choose all the applicable errata (in my case about 242) and select apply errata to these content hosts. It then takes what seems to be ages. The progress bar stays at 0% and i am not exactly sure what is happening. before I open a case I would like to know if this is normal behavior +4 hours to apply 240 packages to 16 hosts in a collection. Does Satellite do this serial or in parallel?

As far as I know I am using katello to apply the errata. I am just wondering if my configurations are correct.

    Thanks!

    Chris
