  • HW RAID1+0 performance degradation after upgrade to 7.3

    Posted on

I manage several HP ProLiant G9 servers with P840 controllers, using 22 SAS disk RAID1+0 array for data storage. After upgrading from 7.2 to 7.3, disk write time went up from ~20ms to ~140ms. I tried to upgrade/downgrade kmod-hpsa (provided by HPE) as well as reformat the whole volume with different file systems (it was XFS by default, also tried EXT4). Nothing seems to work except for downgrading the kernel from 3.10.0-514 to 3.10.0-327.

The same behavior can be observed on multiple servers, with a fresh install as well as 7.2 -> 7.3 upgrade.

Wondering if anyone else is seeing a similar issue and what further steps can be taken to debug this.
