ulimit for a group

We have a group of users that need a modified ulimit setting. these ids are part of the same group others are. what would be the best practice to set the ulimit for these users?

Can we assign an additional group to these users (Secondary group) and then assign ulimit in 90-nproc.conf to this secondary group ?
