  • RHEL 7.1 HA Cluster Installation and Configuration

    Posted on

    hi all

    new to RHEL and have a task to build a 2-node HA cluster for an App. App will share /opt /var filesystems plus another (from ISCSI) for the App install itself.

    Have been doing some reading but still need to understand few concepts:

    Subscription: we are in the process of buying 2x new subscritpions including HA Add-on module;
    Servers: virtual running under VMware 5.5U2 infrastructure
    rhel7-node1.mydomain.local
    rhel7-node2.mydomain.local
    Storage: Dell Equallogic

    My understanding (have been playing with CentOS7) is that I need to:

    deploy both nodes, yum updates, etc....
    Install iscsi-initiator-utils (to present a LUN from Eqaullogic to the servers),
    Install device-mapper-multipath for multipathing,
    Install pcs pacemaker (corosync) to setup/configure cluster,
    Install fence-agents (I believe I will have to use vmware-soap fence agent or iSCSI),
    Enable HA ports on firewalld daemon.

    Do I need a separate heartbeat network between the 2x nodes, or just fencing (iSCSI or VMware)?

    I know that this is pretty basic, so wondering whether you guys could provide more info, suggestions, etc so I can crack on with this

    Thanks in advance for the assistance
