  • Applying errata only to applicable systems in a System Set Manager group

    Posted on

    Hi folks,

Just getting started with Satellite 5, and I've discovered an odd behavior when applying errata to a group of systems with different RHEL releases via System Set Manager. Under the Errata tab, the errata items each show the correct number of "affected" systems, but when using the "Apply Errata" function from that screen, Satellite tries to apply all of the selected errata to all of the systems in the System Set Manager group, not just the affected systems. This causes a bunch of failed actions when Satellite tries to deploy the patches in question to other RHEL versions that they don't apply to. This makes it difficult to spot legitimate failures in the results. Is there any way to prevent this from happening, aside from limiting each System Set Manager set to systems with the same OS release and architecture?

    Thanks,

    Dennis
