replace microsoft AD with RHEL version

Helo,

I'm in the process of creating a small environment and we need to use AD but, I'm trying my best to prevent from using Microsoft due to the license cost. I want to be able to a RHEL version of this but, I do not know where to start? Can someone point me in the right direction? Can I replace AD infrastructure completely with RHEL ?
