The ImageMagick 'convert' command may not work with postscript files in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.8

Issue

  • Using the ImageMagick convert command to convert a PostScript file to another image format (png, for example) may not work in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5.8.

    $ convert test.ps test.png
    Error: /undefinedfilename in (72x72)
    
  • Attempting to display a PostScript file using the ImageMagick 'display' command may not work in RHEL 5.8. An error message like the following is generated:

    /usr/bin/display /tmp/p.ps
    Error: /undefinedfilename in (94.9533x94.9533)

  • ghostscript-8.70-14.el5
  • ImageMagick-6.2.8.0-12.el5
