Cannot reboot cluster node that was fenced using storage-based fencing on Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • What actions are necessary to bring a cluster node running GFS2 back into the cluster?
  • Why did I have to power cycle both systems in order to recover the cluster?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server (RHEL) including
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5 (with the High Availability and Resilient Storage Add Ons)
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6 (with the High Availability and Resilient Storage Add Ons)
  • 2 or more Red Hat Cluster Suite nodes in a cluster
  • GFS2 filesystem mounted on the particular node that is hung
  • Storage Fencing is used (eg. fence_scsi, fence_brocade, etc)
