RHEA-2017:2877 - Product Enhancement Advisory
Synopsis
rhgs-server-container bug fix and enhancement update
Type/Severity
Product Enhancement Advisory
Topic
An updated Red Hat Gluster Storage 3.3 container image that adds various enhancements is now available in the Red Hat Container Registry.
Description
The Container-Native Storage solution provides persistent storage service for OpenShift Containers and OpenShift Infrastructure services.
This update adds the following enhancements:
- With this release, rhgs-server inherits the latest features and enhancement of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.4 and Red Hat Gluster Storage 3.3.0. It now supports gluster block workloads. (BZ#1445589)
- With this update, a single process can be used to host multiple bricks of a gluster node. This leads to better volume density as the memory footprint of Gluster volume reduces. (BZ#1446077)
- With this update, log directory for tcmu-runner is configurable for Red Hat Gluster Storage server container using the env variable TCMU_LOGDIR. By default, it is set to /var/log/glusterfs/gluster-block. (BZ#1487620)
This update fixes the following bugs:
- Previously, on restart of rhgs-server container target service failed to start as 'saveconfig.json' file was not found. With this update, /etc/target is bind mounted to host and gluster-block-target service starts as expected. (BZ#1484871)
- Previously, all services in Red Hat Gluster Storage server container used to connect to rpcbind service in the container. With this update, every service now connects to rpcbind service on the host node. (BZ#1422090)
- On upgrading Red Hat Gluster Storage server containers, new files in /var/lib/glusterd/groups were not available which prevented the creation of block hosting volume. This fix updates files in /var/lib/glusted/groups directory. (BZ#1498543)
All users of Red Hat Gluster Storage container image are advised to pull this updated image from the Red Hat Container Registry.
