RHEA-2017:0169 - Product Enhancement Advisory
Synopsis
Container-Native Storage 3.4
Type/Severity
Product Enhancement Advisory
Topic
Container-Native Storage 3.4 that fixes several bugs and adds various enhancements is now available for Red Hat Gluster Storage 3.1 and OpenShift Enterprise 3.4.
Description
The Container-Native Storage solution enables running containerized Red Hat Gluster Storage inside OpenShift providing reliable storage services from containers.
This solution provides a unified deployment workflow for both compute and storage services to be deployed using containers enabling system administrators to provision storage inside an OpenShift cluster eliminating the need for an external storage cluster or an appliance.
The new Red Hat Gluster Storage container image is based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 and Red Hat Gluster Storage 3.1.3. With this release, the Heketi version is refreshed to version 3-1.0. (BZ# 1394771)
This release includes support for dynamic provisioning of Red Hat Gluster Storage volumes from heketi managed trusted pool. This helps users to request Red Hat Gluster Storage space on demand and use it in their application pod. To use gluster dynamic provisioner, you must install heketi version 3 or higher. (BZ# 1389386)
This release introduces the 'cns-deploy' utility that you can use to deploy Container Native Storage in the OpenShift environment. (BZ# 1402015)
All users of Container-Native Storage are advised to upgrade to the latest version of Container Native-Storage 3.4.
