RHEA-2015:2575 - Product Enhancement Advisory
Synopsis
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2.1 Container Image Update
Type/Severity
Product Enhancement Advisory
Topic
An updated Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2.1 container image is now available.
Description
The Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 container image includes an up-to-date minimal runtime from Red Hat required to build, run, and deploy applications inside containers running on Red Hat infrastructure.
This update does not include changes in the RPM packages consisting the
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 container image.
The following bugs have been fixed:
- Previously, the /run directory was mounted as a volume when building
the container platform image. This caused problems when /run was used
for data which had to persist in the layered images as well. With this
update, /run is no longer mounted as a volume in the platform image.
(BZ#1282945)
- This update also changes the "Name" label of the image from
"redhat/rhel7" to "rhel7/rhel". This change fixes problems caused by tooling which relied on the consistency of names. (BZ#1284062)
Users of Red Hat Enterprise Linux container images are advised to upgrade to
these updated images, which contain backported patches to correct these issues and add these enhancements. Users of these images are also encouraged to rebuild all container images that depend on these images.
Solution
The Red Hat Enterprise Linux container image provided by this update can be downloaded from the Red Hat Container Registry at registry.access.redhat.com using the "docker pull" command. Dockerfiles and scripts should be amended either to refer to this new image specifically, or to the latest image generally.
Affected Products
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 7 x86_64
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server from RHUI 7 x86_64
Fixes
- BZ - 1282945 - /run should not be a volume
- BZ - 1285805 - The rhel7.2 docker image sets systemd target to graphical.target
