Topic

An updated setup package that adds various enhancements is now available for Red
Hat Enterprise Linux 7.

Description

The setup package contains a set of important system configuration and setup files, such as passwd, group, and profile.

This update adds the following enhancements:

  • Previously, the Red Hat® JBoss® middleware and OpenShift products reserved the user ID and group ID pair 185:185 for the JBoss Application Server user called jboss-as. As this user is now going to be used more widely, a more generic name, jboss, has been chosen for it. With this update, the reservation of the user ID and group ID pair has been changed to jboss in the setup package, mentioning former reservations for jboss-as and wildfly. (BZ#1192413)
  • Prior to this update, there were no static IDs for systemd-network and systemd-resolve in the setup package uidgid reservation file. Static IDs are useful for the systemd package, which handles sensitive data, across multiple systems and are necessary for new features in the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 systemd update. Therefore, reservations of pair 192:192 for systemd-network and 193:193 for systemd-resolve have been added, and systemd can now use these new static IDs on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 systems. (BZ#1213820)
  • With this update, the static uidgid pair 167:167 has been reserved for user ceph. The Ceph file system is a distributed object storage file system that can have nodes on several machines. For consistency purposes, it requires the same user ID on all machines in the cluster. The ceph packages can now use this static ID pair and have a consistent static ID across all systems in the cluster. (BZ#1221043)

Users of setup are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which adds these enhancements.
