Topic
Updated rhs-hadoop and rhs-hadoop-install packages are now available for Red Hat Storage 3.
Description
Red Hat Storage is a software only scale-out storage solution that provides
flexible and affordable unstructured data storage. Red Hat Storage 3.0
unifies data storage and infrastructure, increases performance, and
improves availability and manageability to meet enterprise-level storage
challenges. Red Hat Storage provides compatibility for Apache Hadoop and
it uses the standard file system APIs available in Hadoop to provide a
new storage option for Hadoop deployments.
- rhs-hadoop component is the Hadoop file system plugin for Red Hat Storage
3.0. It has undergone a number of recent changes in order to add support
for the use of more than one RHS volume with Hadoop.
- rhs-hadoop-install component is the installer for rhs-hadoop for Red Hat
Storage 3.0. It has undergone a significant re-write to support both new
and existing Red Hat Storage clusters as well as support the use of
multiple volumes.
This errata includes a rebase to rhs-hadoop and rhs-hadoop-install packages
to the Red Hat Common channel. All bug fixes and enhancements of this
release are included in the following:
- The rhs-hadoop-install package contains an updated plug-in that now
supports both new and existing Red Hat Storage clusters as well as the
use of multiple volumes. (BZ#1159155)
All users of Red Hat Storage who require rhs-hadoop and rhs-hadoop-install
are advised to install these new packages.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
To update all RPMs for your particular architecture, run:
rpm -Fvh [filenames]
where [filenames] is a list of the RPMs you wish to upgrade. Only those
RPMs which are currently installed will be updated. Those RPMs which are
not installed but included in the list will not be updated. Note that you
can also use wildcards (*.rpm) if your current directory *only* contains the
desired RPMs.
Please note that this update is also available via Red Hat Network. Many
people find this an easier way to apply updates. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:
up2date
This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
Details on how to use the Red Hat Network are available at https://access.redhat.com/site/articles/11258
