New devtoolset-3-gdb packages are now available as part of Red Hat Developer
Toolset 3.0 for Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Description

The GNU Debugger (GDB) allows users to debug programs written in various
programming languages including C, C++, and Fortran. The devtoolset-3-gdb
packages provide the Red Hat Developer Toolset version of GDB.

This enhancement update adds the devtoolset-3-gdb packages to Red Hat Developer
Toolset 3.0 for Red Hat Enterprise Linux. These packages include GDB 7.8, which
is the latest stable release of GDB. It provides numerous bug fixes and
enhancements over the version included in Red Hat Developer Toolset 2.1. Among
others:

• Improved Python scripting support
• A number of new commands and new command-line options
• New features in the GDB remote stub, GDBserver, including new remote packets

(BZ#1101601)

Note that Fortran slices and sub-matrices, for example, expressions like
"a(2,2:3)", "a(1,2:)", "a(:,:)", or "a(:)", are not supported in this release
although they were supported in previous Red Hat Developer Toolset releases.

All users who require devtoolset-3-gdb are advised to install these new
packages.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
