New v8314 packages are now available as part of Red Hat Software Collections 1.1
for Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Description

V8 is a Google open source JavaScript engine.

This enhancement update adds the v8314 packages to Red Hat Software Collections 1.1 for Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The v8314 packages include V8 JavaScript engine, which was part of the ruby193 and nodejs010 Software Collections in Red Hat Software Collections 1.0. Note that the v8314 Software Collection is supported only as a dependency for the mongodb24, ruby193, ror40, and nodejs010 Software Collections. (BZ#1033082)

This update also fixes the following bug:

• Previously, installation of required shared objects by dependent Software Collections caused conflicts. Consequently, for example, the "libv8.so.3" library, which is required by the mongodb or therubyracer packages, was installed from a different Software Collection or the system library was installed instead. With this update, shared objects provided by the v8314 Software Collection are suffixed with the collection's name and the dependent collections correctly use shared objects from v8314 during installation. In addition, this update adds the following enhancement:

• The following files have been added to the v8314 Software Collection: the LICENCE file, the README file, and the v8314(7) manual page, which is located in the /opt/rh/ directory and contains description, usage, and examples related to the v8314 Software Collection. (BZ#1061462)

All users who require v8314 are advised to install these new packages.

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
