Topic

An updated rhevm-cli package that adds multiple enhancements is now available.

Description

The rhevm-cli package provides a command line interface for interacting
with Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager. Users of the Red Hat
Enterprise Virtualization Manager who want to script their specific
environment logic should install this package.

This update adds the following enhancements:

  • The "summary" option can now be used to retrieve a system summary reporting

the status of hosts, storage, users, and virtual machines. (BZ#854369)

  • rhevm-shell now contains the hostname of the system to which it is connected

within the shell prompt. This makes it easier for a user to identify which
environment they are in. (BZ#866319)

  • It is now possible to add a new host by providing its IP address using the
  • -address parameter. (BZ886067)
  • The "autoconnect" option has been added in the rhevmshellrc configuration file

to define automatic connection to the rhevm-shell. (BZ#918908)

  • The key_file, cert_file, and ca_file options can now be set in the

rhevmshellrc configuration file. (BZ#960983)

  • Previously the --password option was hidden from the command-line help, but

remained functional so users could easily migrate to using the prompt or
configuration file to specify the password. Now the command-line option

  • -password is no longer supported for security reasons. (BZ#983713)
  • Previously the syntax of a command required all arguments to appear before the

options. This caused complications when the value of an option is required by
the autocompletion mechanism in order to decide which are acceptable arguments.
This patch changes the parsing rules so that arguments and options can be freely
intermixed. (BZ#1047513)

Users of Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization environments should install this
updated package which adds these enhancements.
