Topic

An enhanced bridge-utils package is now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux
5.

Description

The bridge-utils package contains utilities for configuration of the Linux
Ethernet bridge. The Linux Ethernet bridge can be used to connect multiple
Ethernet devices together. This connection is fully transparent: hosts connected
to one Ethernet device see hosts connected to the other Ethernet devices
directly.

This updated bridge-utils package adds the following enhancement:

  • Support for Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) snooping configuration

has been added, which allows multicast packets to be forwarded to only relevant
interfaces. (BZ#574466)

All users of bridge-utils are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which
adds this enhancement.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

This update is available via Red Hat Network. Details on how to use the Red Hat
Network to apply this update are available at
