Topic

Updated RHN Proxy Server packages that resolve several issues are now available.

Description

An RHN Proxy Server is a package-caching mechanism that reduces the bandwidth
requirements for Red Hat Network, and enables custom package deployment. RHN
Proxy Server customers are able to cache RPM packages, such as are provided by
Errata Updates from Red Hat, or custom RPM packages generated by their
organization, on an internal, centrally-located server.

These updated RHN Proxy Server packages fix the following issues:

  • Prior to this update, RHN Proxy Server 5.4 was capable of filtering only a

minimal variety of headers (only 'X-*', 'content-length', 'user-agent',
'content-type', and 'range' headers). This prevented configuration file
deployment via RHN Proxy Server 5.4 since the rhncfg-client and the
rhncfg-manager actions did not work properly and resulted in the "500 Internal
Server Error" or the "400 Bad Request" protocol error. With this update, other
headers, namely headers defined by RFC 2616, are now supported. (BZ#656077)

  • Previously, package uploads from the rhn_package_manager tool failed on RHN

Proxy Server 5.4 with the parent http://rhn.redhat.com/. With this update, the
uploading process succeeds. (BZ#656746)

  • Previously, package uploads from the rhn_package_manager tool failed with an

error in the verbose mode on RHN Proxy Server 5.4 with the parent
http://rhn.redhat.com/. With this update, the uploading process succeeds.
(BZ#656753)

  • The 'wrd_services' function for the 'condrestart' option was not available.

With this update, the option is available and works as expected. (BZ#657956)

All RHN Proxy Server users are advised to upgrade to these updated packages,
which resolve these issues.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

This update is available via Red Hat Network. Details on how to use the Red Hat
Network to apply this update are available at
https://access.redhat.com/kb/docs/DOC-11259

  • Red Hat Satellite Proxy 5.4 for RHEL 5 s390x

Fixes

  • BZ - 656077 - Proxy should allow all header from rfc2616
  • BZ - 656746 - RHN proxy 5.4: rhn_package_manager unable to upload packages due to md5sum error
  • BZ - 656753 - RHN Proxy 5.4: rhn_package_manager fails with errors in verbose mode
  • BZ - 657956 - /usr/sbin/rhn-proxy - option "condrestart" does not work.
