Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated device-mapper-multipath packages that fix several bugs and add
various enhancements are now available.
Description
The device-mapper-multipath packages provide tools to manage multipath
devices using the device-mapper multipath kernel module.
This update applies the following bug fixes:
- multipath would never flush queued IO to a multipath device, leading to
problems with removing LUNs and shutting down.
- Incorrect default device configurations were fixed for IBM DASD devices,
MSA 1000/1500/2000 and EVA 3000/4000/5000/6000/8000 controllers, the IBM
DS4100, and the DELL MD3000.
- Multiple errors in printing out messages were fixed.
- multipath devices were not being created on top of Read-Only devices.
- The tur path checker was reporting false path down events during
snapshots of a LUN.
- multipathd would hold open devices that were mounted before it started.
- kpartx wouldn't work on devices larger than 2GB.
- multipath can now set "max_fds" to "max" which is the system maximum.
- multipathd was not starting up and shutting down correctly on top of
iscsi devices.
- multipathd was using up to much memory on Itanium systems.
This update adds the following enhancements:
- multipath can now set the uid/gid/mode attributes for the device nodes
created in /dev/mapper.
- multipath now has a path prioritizer for HP MSA/HSV active/passive
storage controllers.
- Default configurations were added for the IBM S/390 FBA DASD, IBM FAStT
1722-600, IBM DS3400, IBM DS4800, IBM Netfinity, Pivot3 RAIGE, SUN/LSI 2540.
- multipathd can now do an online resize of a multipath device.
All users are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which resolve
these issues and add these enhancements.
