Topic

Enhanced hal packages are now available.

Description

The hal package contains a daemon for collecting and maintaining
information from several sources about the hardware on a user's system,
known as the Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) daemon. It supplies a list of
devices through D-BUS.

These updated hal packages add the following enhancements:

  • support for triggering video resume on Nvidia G80, G90 and G100 chipsets.

With these updated packages, systems with video cards based on these
chipsets are able to resume properly after being suspended, thus resolving
the issue.

  • HAL support for the special function keys on Lenovo-model laptops,

including the Lenovo T61.

  • HAL support for the suspend keys on Dell Precision M4300 and M6300 computers.

Users of hal are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which add
these enhancements.
