An enhanced device-mapper-multipath package is now available.

Description

The device-mapper-multipath package provides tools to manage multipath
devices by instructing the device-mapper multipath kernel module what to do.

Bugs fixed in this update include:

• device-mapper-multipath did not work correctly with GNBD devices
• multipath didn't correctly read /var/lib/multipath/bindings, so multiple

devices could be assigned the same user-friendly-name

• multipath -l an -ll occasionally showed incorrect information
• multipath devices were not being created correctly for luns with a minor

number of greater than 256

• multipath would fail on scsi devices with too large serial numbers.
• multipath devices were not being correctly configured for various IBM

storage devices.

Enhancements included in this update are:

• Improved autoconfiguration for HP and Hitachi storage devices
• device-mapper-multipath is now able to handle DASD devices
• ability to set and change the rr_min_io on a per-device basis

All users are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which resolve
these issues and add these enhancements.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

This update is available via Red Hat Network. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:

up2date

This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
