An updated OProfile package that supports Intel Core 2 performance
monitoring hardware is now available.

Description

OProfile is a system-wide profiler that uses the performance monitoring
hardware in the processors.

The performance monitoring events available in the Intel Core 2 differ from
other processors supported by the earlier versions of OProfile. This updated
version of OProfile includes support for the Intel Core 2 processors.

This update should be applied to machines with Intel Core 2 processors to
resolve this issue.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

This update is available via Red Hat Network. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:

up2date

This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
