Topic
An updated version of Red Hat Update Infrastructure (RHUI) is now available. RHUI 4.11.1 resolves a bug in an underlying Python 3.11 library, python-rhsm.
Description
Red Hat Update Infrastructure (RHUI) provides a highly scalable and redundant framework for managing repositories and content. It also allows cloud providers to deliver content and updates to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) instances.
This RHUI update addresses the following bug:
- Prior to this update, the Content Delivery Server (CDS) used a version of the python3.11-rhsm package that failed to handle entitlement certificates expiring after the year 2049. Consequently, requests using such a certificate failed with an HTTP 403 error, and a traceback was logged on the CDS: "String does not contain a date". This update contains an updated python3.11-rhsm package that improves the way the expiration date is parsed. As a result, such a certificate is handled correctly and the CDS provides the requested content.
Users of RHUI are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which fixes this bug.
Note: neither the rhui-installer nor the rhui-tools version has changed, and remains 4.11.0.X in both cases. Only the release of the python3.11-rhsm package has changed.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata relevant
to your system have been applied.
There are two ways to apply this update, both of which concern the RHUA node first:
A. Update the RHSM library for Python 3.11, which is the affected component, and restart RHUI services:
# dnf -y update python3.11-rhsm
# rhui-services-restart
B. Alternatively, rerun the installer:
# rhui-installer --rerun
Note: because there is no newer rhui-installer version in this update, it is
really only sufficient to rerun the current installer.
Then, either way, make sure the updated RHSM library for Python 3.11 is also installed on the CDS, where it is needed for the fix to take effect. To do so, run the following command on the RHUA node:
# rhui-manager --noninteractive cds reinstall --all
