Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
[Updated 24 July 2023]
This advisory has been updated with an accurate date of the Docker Three Month Retirement Notice.
This is the three month notification for the retirement of the docker component in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Extras.
Description
As of October 24, 2023, software maintenance of docker v1.13 in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Extras will end.
Docker is an open-source engine that automates the deployment of any application as a lightweight, portable, self-sufficient container that runs virtually anywhere.
The docker package has been replaced by Podman v1.6.4 in RHEL 7 Extras, and Podman v4.x in RHEL 8 and RHEL 9 which provide similar functionality.
Solution
Users of docker 1.13 are advised to migrate to podman in RHEL 7 Extras, RHEL 8, or RHEL 9.
