Topic

Updated samba packages that fixes two bugs are now available for Red Hat Gluster Storage 3.5 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.

Description

Red Hat Gluster Storage is a software only scale-out storage solution that
provides flexible and affordable unstructured data storage. It unifies data
storage and infrastructure, increases performance, and improves
availability and manageability to meet enterprise-level storage challenges.

This advisory fixes the following bugs:

  • Previously, restarting the CTDB service did not start the NMB daemon as it was not initialized with the 50.samba legacy event script. With this update, NMB service related parts are separated into the new 48.netbios event script with CTDB_SERVICE_NMB initialized as nmb which is enabled via ctdb event script enable legacy 48.netbios. Now, restarting the CTDB service starts the NMB daemon. (BZ#1888638)
  • Previously, there were authorization failures on standalone samba installations without identical netbios name in smb.conf as individual account databases were created on each cluster node and not shared among all the nodes. With the current update, the account database uses identical credentials on all the cluster nodes as there is a unified default netbios name on all the nodes and the authorization works as expected. (BZ#1888641)

Users of samba with Red Hat Gluster Storage are advised to upgrade to these updated packages.
