Updated systemd packages that fix one bug are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 Advanced Update Support.

Description

The systemd packages contain systemd, a system and service manager for Linux, compatible with the SysV and LSB init scripts. It provides aggressive parallelism capabilities, uses socket and D-Bus activation for starting services, offers on-demand starting of daemons, and keeps track of processes using Linux cgroups. In addition, it supports snapshotting and restoring of the system state, maintains mount and automount points, and implements an elaborate transactional dependency-based service control logic. It can also work as a drop-in replacement for sysvinit.

This update fixes the following bug:

• Previously, if the call of the fork() function failed during the startup of a service, the systemd service manager terminated unexpectedly. Consequently, users had to reboot the machine. With this update, systemd has been fixed to print an error message instead of terminating and stopping handling the requests. As a result, systemd keeps working in the described situation. Users of systemd are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix this bug.
