Topic

Updated OpenStack Block Storage packages that resolve various issues are
now available for Red Hat OpenStack Platform 14.0 (Rocky) for RHEL 7.

Description

Red Hat OpenStack Platform provides the facilities for building, deploying
and monitoring a private or public infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) cloud
running on commonly available physical hardware. This advisory includes
packages for:

  • OpenStack Block Storage service

OpenStack Block Storage (cinder) manages block storage mounting and the
presentation of such mounted block storage to instances. The back-end
physical storage can consist of local disks, Fiber Channel, iSCSI, and/or
NFS mounts attached to Compute nodes. In addition, Block Storage supports
volume backups, and snapshots for temporary save and restore operations.
Programmatic management is available through the Block Storage service's
API.

Changes to the openstack-cinder component:

  • Previously, certain functionality with VMAX All Flash arrays failed after PowerMaxOS version 5978 dropped workload support. The Cinder driver code has been updated to ignore defined workload settings and log a warning when connected VMAX All Flash arrays with PowerMaxOS 5978 or higher. (BZ#1664395)
  • Previously, NetApp drivers would fail to attach a volume if the IP provided for discovery was not accessible from the host. The NetApp iSCSI drivers have been updated to return `target_iqns`, `target_portals`, and `target_luns` parameters when these options are available. (BZ#1697994)
  • Previously, if a user deletes a volume through the Solidfire API or GUI interface and then subsequently requests that same volume to be deleted through Cinder, the driver could delete a volume that was not the target for the delete request. This update modifies the Cinder Solidfire driver to validate the volume ID in the delete request to prevent unexpected data loss. (BZ#1669679)
  • Previously, the Kaminario Cinder volume drivers would fail a tempest test (test_volumes_actions.VolumesActionsTest.test_force_detach_volume) because they would not handle "connector=None" in the terminate_connection. This patch handles "connector=None" in the terminate_connection for FiberChannel and iSCSI connections. (BZ#1714636)

Solution

Before applying this update, ensure all previously released errata relevant
to your system have been applied.
