RHBA-2019:1406 - Bug Fix Advisory

  • Overview

Synopsis

rhgs-server-container bug fix update

Type/Severity

Bug Fix Advisory

Topic

An updated rhgs-server-container image that fixes several bugs is now available in the Red Hat Container Registry.

Description

The OpenShift Container Storage solution provides persistent storage service forOpenShift Containers and OpenShift Infrastructure services.

The advisory fixes the following bugs:

  • Previously, udev events in containers were not reliable. When Logical Volume Manager (LVM) activated the device, the LVM commands waited for udev to create the device nodes under /dev. As the device nodes did not get created, LVM was delayed or failed while activating the devices. As a fix, all interactions with udev for LVM commands executed within the Red Hat Gluster Storage server container are disabled. Hence, LVM commands do not wait for udev to create the device nodes under/dev, instead, it creates the device nodes itself. (BZ#1676466)
  • Previously, two running device-mapper event daemon (dmeventd) services on the same system caused conflict causing Logical Volume Manager (LVM) commands to take a very long time. As a consequence, when a dmeventd service handled an event, LVM command waited until the event was completed. With two dmeventd services running on the system, one in the server container and one on the host. This confused the LVM commands and waited on the 'wrong' dmeventd service which did not handle the event. With this fix, the container no longer runs a dmeventd service. Hence, when only one dmeventd service is running, LVM commands cannot connect to an idle instance and there is no delay. (BZ#1685935)
  • Previously, gluster block volume creation failed as the time out value was inadequate for large volumes. As a fix, users can increase the timeout value to 15 minutes (900 seconds) so that gluster block volume creation is successful even for a large volume size of 2 TB. (BZ#1700814)

All users of rhgs-server-container image are advised to pull this updated image from the Red Hat Container Registry which fixes these bugs.
