Updated samba packages that fix one bug are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 Advanced Update Support.

Description

Samba is an open-source implementation of the Server Message Block (SMB) protocol and the related Common Internet File System (CIFS) protocol, which allows PC-compatible machines to share files, printers, and various information.

This update fixes the following bug:

• unreliable winbindd start with Type=notify and double forking (BZ#1686048)

After updating Samba, verify the /etc/samba/smb.conf file using the testparm utility.

Samba does not support downgrading databases. Before you upgrade, shut down Samba and back up all *.tdb files in the /var/lib/samba/ directory.

Users of samba are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix this bug. After installing this update, the smb service will be restarted automatically.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata relevant to your system have been applied.
