Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated OpenStack Orchestration packages that resolve various issues are
now available for Red Hat OpenStack Platform 14.0 (Rocky) for RHEL 7.
Description
Red Hat OpenStack Platform provides the facilities for building, deploying
and monitoring a private or public infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) cloud
running on commonly available physical hardware. This advisory includes
packages for:
- OpenStack Orchestration service
OpenStack Orchestration (heat) is a template-driven engine used to specify
and deploy configurations for Compute, Storage, and OpenStack Networking.
It can also be used to automate post-deployment actions, which in turn
allows automated provisioning of infrastructure, services, and
applications. Orchestration can also be integrated with Telemetry alarms to
implement auto-scaling for certain infrastructure resources.
Changes to the openstack-heat component:
- Previously, the OS::Mistral::ExternalResource resource type did not report the text of any error in the execution of a Mistral workflow. This led to incomplete ERROR messages if a Mistral workflow failed. This fix adds the execution `state_info` content to the error message, which shows the reason for the workflow failure. (BZ#1652696)
- Prior to this update, Heat did not update resource definitions incrementally. If a stack update failed after updating a resource and then deleting a resource that the updated resource previously depended on, the stored template could contain a reference to a non-existent resource, leaving Heat unable to make changes to the stack.
With this update, Heat updates resource definitions incrementally during the update of a non-convergence stack, which allows Heat to make changes to the stack after a failed stack update. Now, if an update fails, the stored template contains only valid references. (BZ#1633003)
Solution
Before applying this update, ensure all previously released errata relevant
to your system have been applied.
Red Hat OpenStack Platform 14 runs on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.6.
The Red Hat OpenStack Platform 14 Release Notes contain the following:
- An explanation of the way in which the provided components interact to
form a working cloud computing environment.
- Technology Previews, Recommended Practices, and Known Issues.
- The channels required for Red Hat OpenStack Platform 14, including which
channels need to be enabled and disabled.
