Updated samba packages that fix various bugs and add one enhancement are now available for Red Hat Gluster Storage 3.4 Update 3 for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.

Description

Samba is an open-source implementation of the Server Message Block (SMB)
protocol and the related Common Internet File System (CIFS) protocol, which
allows PC-compatible machines to share files, printers, and various information.

This update provides the following enhancement:

• With this update, the smb.conf file has been simplified to enhance its usability. Previously, the smb.conf file contained default parameter settings, various comments, and explanations. Thus making it difficult for users to find a particular section, and adding new parameters. This update introduces the smb.conf.example file, without deleting the existing smb.conf file from the previous version. This new file contains the extended information about the configuration, whereas the smb.conf file will include only the necessary parameters. (BZ#1314659)

Users of Samba with Red Hat Gluster Storage are advised to upgrade to
this updated package.

Solution
