Updated satellite-schema, spacewalk-backend, spacewalk-java, and spacewalk-schema packages that fix several bugs and add various enhancements are now available for Red Hat Satellite 5.8.0.

Description

Red Hat Satellite provides a solution to organizations requiring absolute control over and privacy of the maintenance and package deployment of their servers. It allows organizations to utilize the benefits of Red Hat Network (RHN) without having to provide public Internet access to their servers or other client systems. Red Hat Satellite 5.8.0 can be upgraded to from earlier releases.

This update fixes the following bugs:

• The functionality to create Kickstart distributions has been updated to include Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 as an option. (BZ#1624826)
• A limitation prevented the cdn-sync command from synchronizing one Kickstart repository without all repositories being synchronized. This is now fixed. (BZ#1626797)
• The cdn-sync command did not update the Errata update_date parameter with new information from the Content Delivery Network. This is now fixed. (BZ#1622972)
• The cdn-sync -m command failed to synchronize whole Kickstart trees. This is now fixed. (BZ#1624463)
• Precautions have been taken to ensure that Satellite functionality is preserved when Red Hat Network Tools are not shipped as a separate channel but as a separate AppStream module in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8. (BZ#1582451)
• A banner has been added to the Web UI to remind users to unsubscribe from any content that contains modules. (BZ#1581744)
• The functionality to enable provisioning of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 has been added. (BZ#1624837)

Solution

Application of this errata involves updating the database schema.

Before applying this update, make sure all previously-released errata relevant to your system have been applied. To apply this erratum, take the following steps:

• Shut down Red Hat Satellite by running the following command as root:

rhn-satellite stop

• Upgrade the errata packages. Details on how to apply this update are available at https://access.redhat.com/site/articles/11258
• Start Red Hat Satellite by running the following as root:

rhn-satellite start

• BZ - 1626797 - cdn-sync should be able to sync kickstarts/channel even if not all of its kickstart repos are available
• BZ - 1640999 - Configuration management UI asks for RHN Tools channel subscription even for RHEL8 systems
